Apple airport express model a1264 setup4/25/2024 ![]() Seriously, where is the awesome service I used to have from Sonic when I had their DSL service (left for comcast as I was 4,700 feet away from the DSLAM / Distribution Point). Told him the signal won't work, he continued to have NO ANSWERS when I told him there was confusion and no real answer on any chat rooms. QUESTION: What should settings be on the settings on DEVICE 2, 3, and 4?ĪRE there SETTINGS on DEVICE 1 I should have changed?Ĭalled Customer service (42 minute wait) and the guy on the phone suggested I just use DEVICE 1 for my WHOLE house. Airport Extreme connected to Sonic Pace Router - put in bridge mode (turn off DHCP / eliminate Double NAT) Wifi speeds: less than 15 Mbps down / 10 Mbps up Ethernet speeds all over large house, 800Mbps++ down / 105Mbps up disconnect Ethernet from Comcast model, plug into designated slot on Sonic pac Second Floor: old Airport Extreme (MB763LL/A) DEVICE 4 SSID Set for house (SSID and PW Same for all apple products)įirst Floor: Airport Express (Model: A1264 - 802.11a/b/g/Draft N) DEVICE 3 Ground Floor: Airport Extreme (Model: A1521 / 802.11ac / latest) DEVICE 2 Ground Floor: Sonic Pace Router Model 5268AC FXN DEVICE 1 Just got fiber in the avenues in SF (Sept 2016) All my Wifi devices in the house (tablets, PCs, phones) continued to work with no issue. Both are operational, though if I get around to it I will disable the ATT/Sonic one. I did not change the name of my AIport WiFi network to match the ATT/Sonic WiFi network. (Again, no idea what these things mean :) I also have no idea what means, but it turns out I don't have to! I did have an issue with the 5GHz WiFi network not showing up a choice anymore on my mac, but I solved that by changing the "channel" is uses from Automatic to one I randomly selected. (I have no idea what that means) And I could tell Airport to ignore it, or to solve it, use "Bridge Mode" (discussed in this thread). In Airport Utility, it reported I had a "Double NAT" problem. When the new Sonic/ATT Pace modem was hooked up, I simply plugged the Airport Extreme into that and everything worked right away (sort of). I also plugged Apple TV and a BluRay player into the Airport Extreme ethernet ports. That modem did not have WiFi so the Airport Extreme ran my home's wifi network. My old setup - I had Airport Extreme plugged into Comcast cable modem. Tops on my look list is Synology, but it's probably a lot more product than most folks need.I was able to get my Airport Extreme running with no issues. I still have a 5 year old AirPort Extreme that is still working well, but it will be replaced in the next year or two. In other words, it's always the other guy's fault.Īs far as recommending a specific router, I will only recommend a product if I have used it myself. And the support folks from the router manufacturer will blame the problem on your ISP. If you purchase another router for use with the service from your ISP.and you have a problem.the ISP invariably blames the router, so they won't help you. That way, you know that the product is optimized for the Internet service from your provider and support is simple.just call your ISP. Just below that, click on AirPort Express. Now click the WiFi icon at the top of the Macs screen and look for a listing of New AirPort Base Station. Allow a full minute for the Express to restart to a slow, blinking amber light status. ![]() that is provided by their Internet Service Provider (ISP). Hold in the reset button on the Express for 7-8 seconds and release. The simplest and easiest choice for most users is to use a modem/router.also known as a gateway.
